Cartagena and Mazarron

Cartagena and Puerto de Mazarrón

For 3000 years Cartagena was the scene of some of the most prominent events in history. There you can find the remains of its Punic and Roman past, discover its military and naval history and enjoy its art nouveau architecture.

DaytoursAlmeria regularly arrange tours to Cartagena where we can help you discover something new to explore or you can just enjoy the unique atmosphere of this coastal city.

On the way to Cartagena, we’ll make a stop at Mazarron Port to see the remains of the Salting factory, where the Romans produced the pricy “Garum” sauce. We will find out about the discovery of two Phoenician boats in Mazarron bay, an archaeological gem that dates back to the 7th century BC.

From Mazarron we continue to Cartagena where we will visit the Punic Wall museum to see the remains of Cartagena during the times of Hasdrubal, 227 BC.

You will have free time to continue exploring the museums of Cartagena, or to just chill out in a café on the banks of the bay, watching the sea and luxurious yachts. Cartagena is always full of surprises offering lots of open-air activities for visitors that contribute to a day full of atmosphere.

We recommend: wear comfortable clothing and footwear, and bring sun protection such as a cap or a hat, and sun screen.
